Pleasure-seekers from across the continent have visited the "Happy Isle" since the turn of the twentieth century, escaping the busy city for a peaceful retreat. The Lodge was built in the 1940s by the Union Steamship Company to accommodate staff from the

Bowen Inn - a famous waterfront resort hotel once situated across the street. Today, the Old Dorm has a new life and has been extensively remodeled - inside and out. Union Steamship days are recalled in memorabilia found throughout the Lodge.

After a pleasant day in Snug Cove, guests may look forward to slipping under the chintz-covered duvet in their choice of king, queen or twin bedrooms. Private or shared bathrooms are available, complete with pedestal sinks, soaker tubs or showers.

The Lodge, with its pale-lemon walls edged in white molding and its wicker furniture, makes for a pleasant gathering place - or perfect romantic escape. Relax in front of the river-rock fireplace in the art-deco living room and reflect on your day of leisure or learning.
